Modern technologies is a boon to our lives. For example, plastic packaging has enabled us to protect our food so it lasts longer, as well as enable us to efficiently transport products such as shampoos or toothpaste across the different islands of our country. However, with these great benefits and convenience also come some challenges, especially as plastics fill up landfills and are practically indestructible, thereby can lead to damages to the ecosystem.

As private companies continue to deliver such products to consumers, there is also a growing mindset that such business practices need to be sustainable as well. So in the case of plastic packaging, companies have now started to develop programs that look to recover and take out plastics from the system as much as they put in. This is the essence of the Plastic Credit Exchange or PCX.

Century Pacific Food Inc., one of the leading food companies in the country, has worked with PCX, in order to be certified “Net Zero Plastic Waste,” thereby offsetting the plastics we use in our food packaging by recovering an equivalent amount of plastic waste.

Sustainability is a key pillar to ensuring that companies like us are able to continue delivering products to the consumer, while safeguarding the environment and communities we live in.
